The Loft is Open!!


The youth had their "grand opening" of THE LOFT on Saturday, November 4th. Tons of teens joined in the fun: free pizza, a sticky wall, a mechanical bull and lots more! The evening was topped off with a live performance by the band You Before Me. Check out the pictures of THE LOFT!

Halloween Carnival


The youth recently hosted a Fall Carnival in the Hanna Building. There were games, a cake walk, a silent auction, great food and much, much more. A great time was had by all! Check out some of the fun by viewing this slideshow...

UMW General Meeting


United Methodist Women had their General Meeting on Monday, October 2, 2006 with a program about Community Hospice. Marsha Robertson, Abby Cate and Patty Clary shared information about the organization, the new Life Touch Hospice House, and ways to volunteer.



The church-wide picnic held on August 27th was great fun for everyone!!! Approximately 90 folks attended, enjoying softball, balloon tosses, "washers", "hillbilly golf" and plenty of food and fellowship.













Golden Anniversary Sunday

Couples who have been married 50 years or more were recently recognized during the Sanctuary service then treated to a gourmet lunch in the Fellowship Hall prepared by Lis Fox. Honorees included:

FUMC El Dorado was presented with the "Arkansas Conference 2006 Church of the Year" award at Annual Conference held the week of June 11-14 in Hot Springs.



Rio Bravo, Mexico



FUMC recently sponsored a mission trip to Rio Bravo, Mexico to serve at Manos Juntas (Hands Together) Mexico, which is an ongoing cooperative mission effort between the Methodist Church of Mexico and the Methodist Church of the United States. During the week of May 14-19, 23 team members built two casitas, conducted a Bible school, built a concrete block wall and assisted in laying a tile floor in a Methodist church. Mission team members included Pat Anthony, Lou Ann Bradham, Mark and Sandy Carpenter, Lis Fox, Scott and Kay Hardin, Adam Hughes, Chance Hughes, John and Becki Lusk, Jenny Mooney, Emily Moore, George and Margaret Morgan, Jerome and Dolores Nunnally, Will Parker , Paula Reynolds, Ron and Carolyn Robinson, Robin Thornton and Susan Whatley.

Vacation Bible School "FIESTA"

The Vacation Bible School "FIESTA" which was held June 5-9 was a great success!!! More than 100 children attended each day for fun, games, crafts, music, snacks and most important... to get "fired up about Jesus"!!!

Our church celebrated a special two-day "Focus on Missions!" on May 7th and 8th. Special guests for the event were Betty Battenfield and Martha Albright, conference UMW speakers from Fayetteville, AR. On Sunday, they participated in the worship services and the Sunday School hour. Monday's program, a brunch hosted by the UMW, featured an update on Volunteers in Mission and a slide presentation on their Tanzania mission trips. There were approximately 80 people in attendance for the brunch including women from First Church Camden, Dumas Memorial and Camden Fairview.









Memory Garden, located between the Sanctuary and the Warner Brown Cemetery, was recently "spruced up" in preparation for Easter Sunday. Many thanks to Marcella Perdue, Gene Perdue, Etta Mae Lyons, Robert Lyons and Jean Combs for their hard work in beautifying this area!





Covenant Players

Both morning worship services on February 19, 2006 were led by the Gulf Coast Unit of the Covenant Players drama troupe. The group, pictured below, is made up of members Tina Robinson (Sydney, Australia), Jeremy Dietz (Edinboro, PA), Marie Dietz (Montaigu, France) and John Norris (Hebron, IN). Covenant Players, founded in 1963, currently has 61 units which perform on 6 continents in more than 10 languages. Performing without sets or scenery enables the group to reach a wide variety of audiences including churches, schools, prisons, retirement homes and military facilities. UMW Sunday



The United Methodist Women celebrated UMW Sunday on February 5, 2006. The women led the 10:30 worship service which included special music by Jenny Mooney and an anthem by the women of the Motet Choir. Becki Lusk recognized those who passed away in 2005: Loraine Morgan, Paula O'Connor, Agnes Garrett, Billie Riley, Zelma Herring, Virgie Naramore and Violet Gray. Pam Brule gave a sermon on "Women in Ministry". Pictured is Paula Reynolds, recipient of the 2006 Special Mission Recognition Award.
