Women's Ministries
PURPOSE
The newly formed Women's Ministry of First United Methodist Church, El Dorado, AR, has the purpose
of reaching out to women in this church, in the community and in surrounding communities to bring
them to faith in Jesus Christ, nurture their life walk with Jesus Christ and love one another
through fellowship.
PLAN
In an effort to fulfill our "Purpose", the Women's Ministry of First United Methodist Church,
El Dorado has hosted several events during the past year. There have been two Spud-Nite retreats
held at the Harper Farm. These overnight events provide women with the opportunity for spiritual
renewal as well as food, fun and fellowship with other women.
In September 2005 we hosted a Drama entitled "Women of the Bible" performed by First Baptist Church,
Nashville, AR. The performance, followed by a dinner in our Hanna Building, was attended by
approximately 400 women.
Fellowship Hall was transformed into a Winter Wonderland for our "Dinner With a Perfect Stranger" in
December. We were joined by the women of the Shining Light Christian Center for dinner and music.
Tim Campbell, pastor of Shining Light played the saxophone and Jenny Mooney, FUMC youth director
sang and played the piano. Everyone received a copy of the book Dinner With a Perfect Stranger by
David Gregory.
Upcoming events include additional Spud-Nites and a spring "Granny Camp Training" by Anne Dierks.
