Fellowship of the Sent was started in the late 1970s by Ralph S. Mann (associate pastor of FUMC at the time) as
an outreach to the church's
"immobilized or shut-in members and their family connections". The ministry continues today serving our
home-bound and nursing home members.
The group meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month in the Hanna Building. A hearty meal, which has been
prepared by Lois Gulley, is served into carry-out containers and delivered to approximately 50 people.
Every other month, a copy of The Upper Room is included with the meal. Members enjoy having the
opportunity to briefly visit with those to whom they are delivering meals. Once the deliveries have
been completed, the group meets back at the church to have lunch together and report on those they visited.
In addition to the monthly meals, Fellowship of the Sent takes gifts to all the nursing home members
at Christmas. After Easter and Christmas, they deliver the lilies and poinsettias which have decorated
the church.
Fellowship of the Sent has approximately 25 members made up of both men and women. New members are
always welcome! If you are interested in joining or would like more information, please contact
Norma Dean at 863-4844.
